15.2 Early Silver Wrist Watch with Shrapnel Cover. 35mm. Stem Wound / Stem Set. Circa 1915


Movement – the gilt 3 finger bridge movement has 15 jewels and a lever escapement. The movement is in 85% mint condition – some spotting on the winding wheels and small scratches

Case – the movement comes in a continental silver case, which has a hinged back and a snap on bezel. The bezel has an inner raised rim, the silver shrapnel cover then clips on to this. The shrapnel cover has individual circles for each number and an inner larger circle for the centre of the dial. The cover is signed “Brevet, Dem, M & Co”. It also has continental silver assay marks. The rest of the case has a smooth plain finish with silver wire lugs. The wrist watch comes with a modern leather strap. The case is in 85% mint condition – one scratch on the edge, a bruise on the back and some light wear and tear

Dial – the white enamel dial has old style luminous numbers (which have since lost their luminosity) and an inner red enamel 24 hour chapter ring. The dial is in 85% mint condition – two faint hairlines near the 3, one of which radiates to the sub seconds dial. The watch has a mineral glass.
