This is a Continental Silver Verge (either Swiss or Austrian) made in the style of an English Pair Cased Calendar Verge. The movement is signed “Tobias, London” but I am sure this is a spurious signature and is not by Tobias. Saying all of this however this is a very good watch
The watch has been cleaned and serviced and keeps time to within 10 minutes a day
The watch has NO silver assay marks (there is a fake stamp on the stem) but the case has been tested and is definitely silver and is sold with our usual 100% refund guarantee
Movement – the very unusual gilt full plate verge movement has a silver cock with two feet and decorated with bright cut engraving. The movement also has a large regulator, which is in an arc around the movement.
The movement is signed “Tobias, London” and is in 90% mint condition – light scratches on the plate feet only
The movement comes with a silver Dust cap, which has a cut out part, which matches the silver watch cock perfectly.
The cap slots on and is held in place with the usual slide.
The cap is decorated with crisp bright cut engraving and this continues around the side also
Inner case- the movement sits in a silver inner case, which has a hinged bezel. The watch is wound from the back and is set from the front
The case has a smooth plain finish
The case has NO repair inside to the stem but the stem is crooked and leans to one side. But even on close inspection there is no sign of damage of wear.
The inner case is in 90% mint condition – little pitted marks on the back (probably from the large catch inside the outer)
Outer case – the large silver outer case has a large hinge and a smooth plain finish.
The case is in 90% mint condition – light wear and tear on the back
Dial – the white enamel dial has gold coloured Breguet style hands. In the centre of the dial is a chapter ring with numbers from 1 – 31. This dial also has a blue steel pointer
This is the calendar function and this changes automatically every 24 hours
The dial is in 98% mint condition – super clean condition
