2.23 Silver Pair Cased Verge with a Silver Watch Cock. By J Bradshaw London. Pair Case / Open Face. Key Wound / Key Set Circa 1735

The watch is pre hallmarks but I can guarantee that this watch is circa 1735 from the style of the movement and watch cock The watch has been cleaned and serviced and works well but please do not expect quartz like accuracy from a 275 year old watch Movement – this gilt full plate verge movement has a large silver watch cock which is decorated with fancy pierced work. The cock is winged and has a large D shaped foot again decorated with pierced work. The cock finally has an engraved Angel’s face on the base. The movement also has a Egyptian pillars with scroll tops and a silver regulator disc with a raised snake acting as the pointer. The movement is signed “Jn Bradshaw, London” and is in 95% mint condition – very clean

Inner case – the movement comes in a silver inner case, which has a hinged bezel and the movement swings out from the front. The watch is wound from the back and set from the front. The case has a smooth plain finish and is in 85% mint condition – very clean with just a small repair on the bezel Outer case – the original and matching outer case – please note that both theses cases are original but are PRE English hallmarks. The case also has a smooth plain finish and is in 85% mint condition – little nicks and marks and part of the case button has worn away.

Dial – the white enamel dial is a LATER Dial. The watch should have a CHAMPLEVE dial, hence the LOW price of the watch. The dial has gilt filigree hands and is in 90% mint condition – there is a scratch on the 6 and a small hairline cluster on the edge near the 8 and 9. The watch has a mineral bulls eye glass.
