This is a very rare Dialed verge watch made circa 1790
The watch has been cleaned and serviced and works very well to within 15 minutes a day.
The watch has a Day, Date and Phases of the Moon function and these all work perfectly
Movement – the gilt full plate verge movement has a pierced watch cock and a silver regulator disc
The movement is in 95% mint condition – just a few small scratches only
Case – the movement comes in a large metal open face case, which has a massive box hinge and also a massive stem and bow.
The watch is wound and set from the front.
The inside of the case is marked OM22
The case has a smooth plain finish and is in 80% mint condition – a bit dull and stained on the back.
Dial – the white enamel dial has 4 Subsidiary dials.
The one above the 6 is the sub seconds dial
The one next to the 9 is the day function (in French)
The one next to the 3 is the date function
The one under the 12 is the Moonphase function. This dial is numbered as a date dial would be but shows the phases of the moon (by way of painted symbols) during the month
The Day, Date and moon all change every 24 hours
The dial is in 80% mint condition – there is a hairlines going from the 4 to the centre and an invisible hairline (One which has not broken through the enamel) around the moon dial
