3.13 Silver QUARTER Repeater. Open Face. 53mm. Stem Wound / Pin Set. Circa 1890

This is a Swiss silver quarter repeater with a slide activated repeater. When you move the slide, the watch chimes the hours and the quarters. If the time was 2’0’Clock, the watch would chime 2 dings. For a quarter past 2, the watch would chime 2 dings for the 2 hours and one ding-ding for the quarters. The watch will continue to chime this (each time you move the slide) until it reaches 2.30, then you will hear 2 x dings and 2 x ding-dings and so on. With THIS watch, please note, that the slide is stiff on the 11 and 12 and has to be given a nudge to start moving and thus chiming. Movement – the gilt ¾ plate movement has a lever escapement and two hammers striking on internal gongs. The movement is marked with a Swiss Paten Cross and numbered 6609. The movement is in 75% mint condition – quite a few scratches on the winding wheels

Case – the movement comes in a good quality silver open face case, which has a hinged back and bezel. The watch has a large and top quality gold slide for the repeater. The case has a smooth plain finish and is in 95% mint condition – ultra crisp with just light wear.

Dial – the white enamel dial is in 90% mint condition – there is a small hairline near the 2.
