This is a superb watch made by the Illinois Watch Co, circa 1878
This is an “America” model
The watch has been cleaned and serviced and keeps excellent time
Movement – the gilt full plate lever movement has 7 Jewels and is signed “America, Springfield, Ill, No. 191705.
The movement is in immaculate condition with even the blue steel screws remaining clean and bright
Case – the movement comes in a solid coin silver Hunter case, which has a hinged inner, back and front cover.
The front cover has a good spring but when you press the winder in, the case goes up around 15 degrees and then needs a nudge for it to pop open to 90.
The case has crisp coin edged sides and large gold hinges
The case is decorated with engine turning on both sides and crisp floral engraving.
On the front cover has a small circle with small engraved initials LK
The case is in 95% mint condition – absolutely crisp with hardly any signs of wear at all
Dial – the white enamel dial is in 95% mint condition – a very light and faint hairline near the 3.The watch has a synthetic glass.
