4.26 English Silver Fusee by J Lowry, Belfast. Open Face. 51mm. Key Wound / Key Set. London 1860


Movement – this gilt full plate fusee movement has an engraved watch cock and a good size diamond endstone. The movement is signed “J Lowry, Belfast” # 1359 and is in 80% mint condition – some small scratches. Also please note there is no dust cap

Case – the movement comes in an English silver open face, which has a hinged bezel and back cover and the watch is wound from the back and is set and swings out from the front. The back cover has a small cartouche with the following inscription “Robert Cranford, Belfast, 1862”. The case is decorated with engine turning and is in 75% mint condition – there is a small dent on one side and general wear and tear to the engine turning and the case.

Dial – the off white enamel dial is in 80% mint condition – there is a hairline crossing through the centre of the dial and a series of cracks right on the edge of the dial below the sub seconds on the 6.
