Movement – the gilt ¾ plate movement lever movement is signed “Dent, Watchmaker to the Queen, 61, Strand & 4 Royal Exchange, London, No 50527”. The movement was probably made circa 1899 – 1900 and then cased at a later date. The movement is in pristine mint condition
Case – the movement comes in a good quality Silver Half Hunter case, which has a hinged inner, back and front cover. The front cover has dark blue enamel numbers around the aperture for the dial.
The front cover pops open crisply to 90 degrees when you press the winder in.
The rest of the case has a smooth plain finish and is in mint condition.
Dial – the white enamel dial is signed “Dent, London” and has beautiful blue steel half hunter hands. The dial is in perfect mint condition.
The watch comes in its original desk case covered in green leather and lined with green velvet and silk. The watch fits in the case and then the case sits on a desk, allowing the watch to be displayed. The silk is signed “By Appointment to the King & Queen, Dent, 28 Cockspur Street, Charing Cross”.
The desk cases for Half Hunter pocket watches are incredibly rare and in over 20 years of dealing with watches this is just the second one I have had for sale and is particularly nice as it also signed “Dent “ and is wholly original to the watch.
