This is a Hamilton pocket watch made for the US Government and Navy to be used as a comparing watch against other deck watches and time pieces in service. This watch is a particularly rare variant as it has an Elinvar hairspring.
Movement – the nickel ¾ plate movement has a lever escapement with a micrometer regulator and a hacking function. The movement is signed “Hamilton Watch Co, 2974B, Elinvar, 17 Jewels, Adj Temo & 3 Pos, US Navy BU Ships” K2792. The movement is in 95% mint condition
Case – the movement comes in a base metal case which has a snap on inner cover and a screw on back and bezel. The case has a smooth plain finish and is in 70% mint condition – the back has a matt yellow finish where all the chrome has come off the back.
Dial – the white enamel dial has a superb set of blue steel hands and is signed “Hamilton”. The dial is in 90% mint condition – a hairline from the 12 to the centre
