This is a railroad pocket watch made by Illinois
This is one of the rarer Bunn Special variants – Type I 60 Hour where the movement is not signed Sixty Hour only 60 by the Motor Barrel part of the signature
Movement – this is a superb high quality nickel ¾ plate movement which has a lever escapement with a micrometer regulator, decorated with circular damascening, black enamel lettering, gold train wheels and raised gold jewel settings. The movement is signed “Bunn Special, Illinois Watch Springfield, Adjusted Temp & Six positions, Motor Barrel, 60, 21 Jewels” # 4746377. The movement is in 90% mint condition – some enamel missing on the lettering and scratches and marks on the winding wheels.
Case – the movement comes in a 14K yellow gold filled case signed “Bunn Special Model”. The case has a screw on back and bezel with carved edges and a carved bow. The case has a smooth plain finish and is in 95% mint condition – light marks and scratches only; a really GOOD case
Dial – this is where the watch is let down and why I did not service the watch. It has a paint on metal dial and NOT a white enamel dial. The Montgomery style dial, has a six in the sub seconds, is signed “Illinois Bunn Special” and is in 100% mint condition
