This is a rare example of a pocket watch made by the Aurora Watch Co, Illinois. The Aurora Watch Company was founded in Illinois 1883 and its aim was to get one jeweller in each town retailing their watches.
Movement – the gilt full plate movement has a lever escapement and 17 Jewels. The movement is signed “Aurora Watch Co, Aurora, Ill” # 1100344 and is in 85% mint condition – some stains and marks
Case – the movement comes in a white metal silverode case which has a hinged back, inner and bezel. The case has a smooth plain finish and is in 95% mint condition – just one small mark on the back, overall a superb example
Dial – the white enamel dial is single sunk and a full set of blue steel hands. The dial is signed “Aurora” and is in 85% mint condition – one hairlines and some nibbling around the edges of the dial
The watch has a thick bevelled mineral glass
The watch measures 56mm wide x 21mm deep
The watch is key wound / key set and comes with a key
