This is classic American Railroad pocket watch made by the Hamilton Watch Co.
The watch is in particularly fine condition and has the additional bonus of an Elinvar balance indicated by the prefix E in the title
Movement – this high grade ¾ plate nickel movement has a lever escapement with a micrometer regulator and a gold capped escape wheel. The movement also has gold train wheels, raised gold jewel settings and is decorated with striped damascening. The movement is signed “Hamilton Watch Co, Lancaster, PA, 21 Jewels 992, Adj 5 positions” # 2594608. The movement is also signed Elinvar under the balance
The movement is in 95% mint condition – superb condition
Case – the movement comes in a Wandsworth, 10K Gold filled open face case, which has a screw off back and bezel. The case is signed “Hamilton” on the winder and has the patent stirrup bow. The case has carved sides with a scroll monogram on the back and the rest of the case has a smooth plain finish. The case is in 95% mint condition - light scratches on the back but still an excellent case
Dial – the white enamel dial is a superb example of a Montgomery dial with continuous minute marks and the 6 in the sub seconds. The dial is double sunk and has a full set of blue steel hands. The dial is signed “Hamilton” and is in 100% flawless condition, even the hands have their original blue steel bloom
The watch has a mineral glass
The watch measures 50mm wide x 12mm deep
The watch is stem wound / lever set – please note the winding is stiff as the mainspring has just recently be replaced; this will improve with use.
