This is an American railroad grade pocket watch made by the Hampden Watch Co, circa 1912
Movement - the model 4, nickel bridge movement has a lever escapement with a micrometer regulator, raised gold jewel settings and is decorated with damascening. The movement is signed “HWCo (Hampden Watch Co), Canton, O, No 105, 21 Jewels, Adj to 5 positions” # 2932709. The movement is in 90% mint condition – some scratches and marks
Case – the movement comes in a gold plated open face case, which has a hinged inner, back and bezel. The inner cover is signed “Hampden Watch Co, Railway, Primus”. The case has coin edged sides, engine turning and an M monogramed crest. The case is in 85% mint condition – on the back rim there is a circle of metal coming through the gold plating. You can see this also on the front and back edges of the case. Plus the engine turning has some light wear
Dial – the white enamel dial is double sunk and has a full set of blue steel hands. The dial is signed “Hampden Watch Co” and is in 98% mint condition – a very small hairline belowe the sub seconds
The watch has a bevelled mineral glass
The watch measures 50mm wide x 13mm deep
The watch is stem wound / lever set
