This is an American railroad grade pocket watch made by Elgin.
The watch has a grade 214, model 89 movement.
Movement – the high quality nickel ¾ plate movement has a lever escapement with a micrometer regulator. The movement has a gold cap on the balance and lever, raised gold jewel settings, gold train wheels, a gold jewel setting on the barrel and is decorated with damascening. The movement is signed “Veritas, Elgin, Ill, USA, Safety Barrel, 23 Jewels” # 9595159. The movement is in 90% mint condition – some marks on the winding wheels and light scratches.
Case – the movement comes in a gold plated open face case which has a screw off bezel and the watch swings out from the front. The case is decorated with. The rest of the case has a smooth plain finish and is in 95% mint condition – two small marks on the side but overall a very good example
Dial – the white enamel dial is double sunk with a full set of blue steel hands. The dial is signed “Elgin” and is in 95% mint condition – faint hairlines on the 2 and 7
