This is a classic Art Deco designed piece made by the American company Elgin c1927
The watch case is particularly unusual with a flared square design and it is enhanced by still having the original box
Movement – the nickel ¾ plate movement has a lever escapement with a micrometer regulator. The movement is signed “Elgin Nat’l Watch Co, USA, 17 Jewels, Adjusted” # 29591022 and is in 95% mint condition
Case – the movement comes in a 14K White gold filled open face case made by Wandsworth. The case has a snap on back and bezel and has a flared square case. The case is engraved with initials “BW 27”. The rest of the case has cashed sides and a smooth plain finish and is in 95% mint condition
Dial – the silvered dial has a full set of fancy blue steel hands and is signed “Elgin” The dial is in 99%% mint condition
The watch measures 44mm x 9mm deep

The watch comes with a white gold filled chain which measures 35mm from the dog clip to bolt ring. The chain is made up of a single length of pierced and engraved long links and is in 80% mint condition – the chain has tarnish in areas
The watch comes in its original leather box with a hinged lid and is lined with silk and velvet. The box has a label for the original retailer and is also signed “Elgin”. The box is in excellent condition but the lid does not stay shut so care must be taken when carrying the box to make sure the lid is closed.
