This is a beautiful example of one of the 12 size Prestige watches made by the American companies in the 1920s and 30s. These watches have movements to rival anything the Swiss were producing at the time but are still relatively undervalued for their quality.

This one is a particularly fine example as it comes with its original box and papers

Movement – the top quality nickel bridge movement has a lever escapement and a micrometer regulator. The movement has a gold train wheels, raised gold jewel settings and a gold jewel setting on the mainspring barrel also. The movement is decorated with damascening and is signed “Illinois Watch Co, A. Lincoln, Adj 5 positions, 19 Jewels Motor Barrel” # 4619531. The movement is in 99% mint condition

Case – the movement comes in a 14K white gold open face case, which has a hinged back cover and a snap on bezel. The case is engraved on the inside of the back cover “Illinois Watch Co, Springfield”. The exterior of the case has finely carved borders and smooth plain finish on the back. The case is in 95% mint condition – a superb example

Dial – the finely silvered dial has raised silvered numbers against a brushed silver back ground and a central disc with polished silver flowers and scrolls. The dial can change appearance depending on how the light catches the dial. The dial also has blue steel hands and is signed “Illinois.” The dial is in 95% mint condition – some small tarnished areas

The watch has a mineral glass

The watch measures 44mm wide x 19mm deep – an American 12 size

The watch is stem wound / stem set

The watch comes in its original box and paperwork
