This is an American pocket watch made by Elgin and was made for the military forces in India.
Movement – gilt ¾ plate movement has a lever escapement and is decorated with damascening. The movement is signed “Elgin Nat’l Watch Co, USA, Nine Jewels” # 41231324. The movement is in 90% mint condition – some scratches and marks.
Case – the movement comes in a white base metal open face case, which has a screw off back and bezel. The case is engraved on the back “G.S. MK II, A 7283” and an I with a military arrow. The rest of the case has a smooth plain finish and is in 85% mint condition – some small scratches around the edges and light surface scratches and marks on the back.
Dial – the black enamel dial has old luminous hands and numerals and is signed “Elgin”. The dial is in 98% mint condition – a tiny hairline from the hands to the sub seconds dial
The watch has a bevelled mineral glass
The watch measures 51mm wide x 14mm deep
The watch is stem wound / stem set
