This is an American pocket watch made by Waltham circa 1898
Movement – the gilt full plate movement has a lever escapement and is signed “American Waltham Watch Co” # 6678860. The movement is in 90% mint condition
Case – the movement comes in a coin silver open face case, which has a metal inner. The case has a screw off bezel and the watch swings out from the front. The case is decorated with an engraved and gold inlay scene of an old steam locomotive train coming down the tracks. The rest of the case has a smooth plain finish and is in 95% mint condition
Dial – the white enamel dial has a full set of blue steel hands and is signed “Waltham”. The dial is in 90% mint condition – some hairlines on the 3 and around the sub seconds
The watch is stem wound / stem set
The watch has a thick bevelled glass
The watch measures 56mm wide x 20mm deep – an American 18 size.
