This is an American pocket watch made by Elgin. It is known as a dress watch as it was designed to be slimmer and lighter; ideal for waist coats / vests made of lighter material, which became fashionable in the interwar years.
Movement – the nickel ¾ plate movement has a lever escapement and a micrometer regulator. The movement is decorated with damascening and is signed “Elgin Nat’l Watch Co, USA, 17 Jewels, Adjustments” 21827106 The movement is in 95% mint condition
Case – the movement came in a gold filled open face case, which has a hinged back, a hinged inner and snap on bezel. The inner cover is signed “Elgin,” and has a vacant crest for an inscription. The back of the case has a smooth plain finish and is in 95% mint condition – light marks only
Dial – the silvered dial has a full set of blue steel hands, is signed ”Elgin” and is in 95% mint condition – light marks
The watch has a plastic glass
The watch measures 45mm wide x 10mm deep
The watch is stem wound / stem set
