This is an American Railroad grade pocket watch made by the Elgin Watch Company
The watch runs dial side down but stops dial side up – the top pivot needs attention
Movement – the nickel ¾ plate, 180 grade, model 7 movement has a lever escapement with a micrometer regulator. The movement is signed “B W Raymond, Elgin, Ill, USA, 17 Jewels, Adjusted” # 7488376. The movement features large gold jewels and is decorated with damascening. The movement is in 90% mint condition – some light scratches
Case – the movement comes in a gold filled open face case by Gibraltar with a screw on back and bezel. The case has floral engraving and engine turning on the back with a vacant crest. The case has a smooth plain finish on the sides and is in 60% mint condition – the gilding has mostly worn off and the case is brassy
Dial – the white enamel dial is double sunk with a pair of blue steel hour and minute hands and a gilt sub seconds hand and is signed “Elgin”. The dial is in 95% mint condition
The watch has a synthetic glass
The watch measures 53mm wide x 17mm deep
The watch is stem wound / lever set
