This watch has a good balance and spring and will tick and keep good time however this watch is a pendant set watch and cased in a lever set case. The winder is held in place by a screw and in a permanent “Wind” position. Remove the screw and the winder will set the hands with some patience as it does not catch the thread. However of course, if the screw has been removed the winder is also loose. This watch needs a new case or someone who knows how to convert it

Movement – the gilt model 1883 movement has 15 Jewels and a lever escapement. The movement is signed “Standard, Waltham, Mass” # 16577061 and is in 95% mint condition

Case – the movement comes in a superb 4 ounce silver case by Keystone. The thick and heavy case has a hinged bezel, back and inner cover. The back is decorated with engraving and a boating scene. The rest of the case has a smooth plain finish with large gold hinges and is in 95% mint condition – a stunning case and such a pity that this case doesn’t accommodate this movement.

Dial – the ultra rare white enamel dial is decorated with an original enamel scene of the coat of arms of Maine. The dial has a full set of blue steel hands and is signed “AWWCo, Waltham” and is in 90% mint condition – some faint hairlines on the 2 and one above the subsidiary seconds

The watch has a thick bevelled mineral glass

The watch measures 58mm wide x 21mm deep

The watch is stem wound / stem set as discussed above
