This is a lacquered papier mache watch stand in the form of a castle entrance
The castle has a stepped rectangular base. The stand is wonderfully detailed and also has mother of pearl inserts in the window to give the “glass” some translucency.
The stand is made up of two main layers with the back strut having some spring to keep a watch in place – it is best suited to large Victorian key wound watches which have a bit of depth to them. The stand measures 170mm high x 20mm x 5mm and is in 95% mint condition
