This is a very elegant pocket watch stand ideally suited for verges from 1750 – 1800
The stand is made from dark wood, probably ebony.
It has a round base with three button feet and a carved stepped design. It also has a recessed centre – to hold a chain or watch keys
The stand then has FOUR elegant tapered columns supporting a double arch with carved detailing and a hook for the watch
The stand is of much better quality than usual and due to the 4 leg design – larger and heavier
It is finished by bone finials and buttons – possibly one is missing from the top of the arch as there is a small indentation there but as the rest of the finials are much larger, with larger holes required to fix them, I am not sure what this is.
The stand measures 145mm x 110mm
The stand is in 95% mint condition
