Victorian gilt and stone set chatelaine and ladies fob watch holder c1890

This gilt metal piece would have slipped over a belt and would have held a ladies fob watch

The chatelaine starts with a carved panel which has a hinged tongue which slips over the belt

This front panel is decorated with layers of gilt metal and white metal work and then set with large cabochon cut green and orange stones

Hanging from this are two lengths of chains with stone links and again set with stones

At the end of the two lengths of chain is the watch holder.

This is made of two hinged pieces. The holder is decorated with a the same metal work as the upper part and again set with stones

The front bezel is set with a bevelled glass

The holder will take a watch 33mm x 8mm thick approx.

The whole piece measures 185mm x 40mm wide x 22mm deep

The whole piece is in 90% mint condition – several stones are missing
