This is a very rare little piece. It is a much earlier type of vesta with hallmarks for London 1857 and makers marks for Edward Smith
The design is completely different to later vestas. This is a small rectangular box and is of superb quality
The vesta has a hinged lid and is decorated with unusual and delicate engine turning and a round cartouche on the lid
The vesta has a striker on the side and a fixed suspension loop on one end.
The vesta measures 33mm x 14mm and is in 95% mint condition – superb condition
