This pocket watch was made circa London 1770

This watch has a slipped chain and crucially NO BALANCE COCK and a broken balance and no regulator. This watch is sold as a major project or spares

Movement – the gilt full plate movement has square baluster pillars and is signed “J. Richards, London, 18383”

Inner case – the movement comes in a gilt inner case, which has a hinged bezel and the watch is wound from the back and set from the front and the movement is accessed from the front also. The case has a smooth plain finish and has its original bow and stem, free of repair or damage. The case though is in 70% mint condition – lots of gilding missing on the back and sides 

Outer case – the movement comes in its original gilt outer case, which is covered with painted green horn, held in place with pins. The case is in 80% mint condition – a crack on the back and a missing piece on the bezel.

Dial – the white enamel dial has its original pair of blue steel beetle and poker hands. The dial is in 85% mint condition – many scratches which have gone dirty with age.

The watch has NO glass

The watch measures 47mm wide x 21mm deep

The watch is key wound / key set and comes with several old keys
