The watch has hallmarks for London 1941
This is J W Benson’s top quality pocket watch and is extremely hard to find in silver. The signs of the quality are there, the moment you pick the watch up. The watch is very heavy for its size. It is also rarer to be found as an open face model as most are hunter or half hunter models
Movement – the gilt ¾ plate movement has an adjusted balance and gold jewel settings. The movement is signed “The Field, Best London Make, By Special Warrant to H.M. The Queen, J W Benson, Ludgate Hill, London” # H5310. The movement is in 99% mint condition – practically flawless
Case – the movement comes in a top quality English silver open face case which has a snap on back cover and front bezel. The case has makers marks for ATO and is numbered 5310.
The case has a smooth plain finish and is in 90% mint condition – 2 light crease dents on the back
Dial – the white enamel dial has a full set of blue steel hands. The dial is signed “J W Benson, London”. The dial is in 99% mint condition – one small scratch
The watch has a mineral glass.
The watch is stem wound / pin set
The watch measures 51mm wide x 13mm deep
The watch comes in its original blue leather box lined with silk and velvet.
