This is a silver pair cased English verge with hallmarks for London 1751

Movement – the gilt full plate verge fusee movement has square baluster pillars and a large winged watch cock with a pierced D shaped foot. The movement is signed “J Johnson, London, 1514”. The movement is in 95% mint condition – superb condition

Inner case – the movement comes in a silver inner case where the watch is wound from the back, set from the front and swings out from the front also. The case has clear assay marks, is numbered 1514 and has case maker’s marks GS. The case has its original bow and stem, free from repair or damage. The case has a smooth plain finish and is in 95% mint condition – an excellent example

Outer case – the matching outer case has makers marks for GS (someone has lightly hand engraved 1514). The case has a large box hinge and original button. The case has a smooth plain finish and is in 90% mint condition – a few small bruises and dents but still a superb example

Dial – the silver champleve dial has steel beetle and poker hands and black enamel numbers. The dial is decorated with a brushed finish on the main part of the dial and each cartouche has a polished finish. The dial is signed “J Johnson, London” and is in 100% mint condition

The watch has a bulls eye mineral glass. 

The watch measures 49mm wide x 26mm deep
