This English silver pocket watch has clear hallmarks for Chester 1828
The movement has a good balance and chain but is fully wound and the balance is sluggish – I suspect bent pivots
Movement – the top quality gilt full plate fusee movement has a Massey II escapement. It has a gilt balance with steel timing screws . The movement has large Liverpool jewels including a jewelled winding cone. The movement is in 95% mint condition.
The movement has its original dust cap
Case – the movement comes in an English silver open face case, which has a hinged back and bezel. The watch is wound from the back, set from the front and is accessed from the front also. The case has stepped milled edges and a fancy carved bow. The rest of the case has a smooth plain finish and is in 85% mint condition – some signs of wear but still a good case
Dial – the off white enamel dial has a pair of golds hands and a blue steel sub seconds hand. The dial is in 100% mint condition
The watch has a mineral glass
The watch is key wound / key set and comes with an old period key
The watch measures 52mm wide x 20mm deep
