This English silver pocket watch has clear hallmarks for London 1826
This a fusee chain driven watch – a fusee chain is a very delicate chain and easy to break if you have never had a watch before. This watch works well and keeps excellent time but please note we do not offer a warranty on the fusee chain should it break.
Movement – the top quality gilt full plate fusee movement has a Massey III escapement. It has a gold balance, a diamond endstone and is jewelled. The movement is signed “Aldred & Son, Yarmouth, 272” and is in 95% mint condition.
The movement has its original dust cap
Case – the movement comes in an English silver open face case, which has a hinged back and bezel. The watch is wound from the back, set from the front and is accessed from the front also. The deep silver case has engine turning on the edges. The rest of the case has light engine turning and is in 90% mint condition – light signs of wear on this lovely example of an English silver case
Dial – the off white enamel dial has a pair of golds hands and a blue steel sub seconds hand. The dial is in 100% mint condition
The watch has a mineral glass
The watch is key wound / key set and comes with an old period key
The watch measures 51mm wide x 20mm deep
