This is a silver pair cased English rack lever with hallmarks for Chester 1821

Movement – this gilt full plate fusee movement has a rack lever escapement with the larger 30 tooth escape wheel variant. The movement has a large carved and pierced watch cock with a diamond endstone and signed “Patent”
The movement is signed “Litherland & Co, Liverpool” 1446. The movement is in 95% mint condition – a superb example
Inner case – the movement comes in a silver inner case where the watch is wound from the back, set from the front and swings out from the front also. The case has clear assay marks. The case has its original bow and stem, free from repair or damage. The case has a smooth plain finish and is in 95% mint condition – an excellent example
Outer case – the matching outer case has a large box hinge and original button. The case has a smooth plain finish and is in 90% mint condition – the button has a hole, which is usual for these domed buttons and there is a small split one the bezel by one part of the hinge; however the outer is still a good example
Dial – the white enamel has a beautiful pair of gold hands and is in 95% mint condition – 1 small hairline on the 3-4
