This is a Swiss made John Bennett movement, the movement was made in Switzerland but sent to England where it was cased and sold. The case has clear hallmarks for London 1884

Movement – the light nickel ¾ plate movement has a lever escapement and screw held jewels. The movement is signed “Patent on the watch cock and “Sir John Bennett” on the plate.

Case – the movement comes in a top quality English silver case which has a hinged inner and back and a snap on bezel. The inner cover is engraved with the elaborate logo and “Maker to the Royal Observatory, Sir John Bennett, 65 & 64 Cheapside, London”. The case has gold hinges, engine turning and coin edged sides. The case has a vacant cartouche on the back and is in 80% mint condition –light wear and tear on the back and a small part of wire is missing on the winder

Dial – the white enamel dial as a full set of blue steel hands and is in 100% mint condition

The watch measures 50mm wide

The watch is stem wound / stem set

The watch has a mineral glass.
