Up until yesterday this watch was complete and ticking but on a wind by me, the chain broke; just to show it can happed to any of us!

The balance is OK but the hook off the chain is broken and so the watch is not working

The watch comes in a silver case with hallmarks for Chester 1839

Movement – the gilt full plate fusee movement has a lever escapement and has a lovely example of large jewels or “Liverpool Windows”. The movement has a carved watch cock decorated with a flower and a steel 3 arm balance. The movement is signed “Litherland Davies, Liverpool, Patent” # 18080. The movement is in 95% mint condition – a wonderful example; shame about the chain

The movement has its original gilt dust cap.,

Cased – the movement comes in an English silver open face case, which has a hinged back and bezel. The watch is wound from the back, set from the front and swings out from the front also. The case has coin edges, gold hinges and a smooth plain finish on the rest of the case. The case is in 90% mint condition – some minor rubbing to the engine turning and light scratches on the back

Dial – the off white enamel dial has a full set of blue steel hands – the minute hand tip is broken. The dial is in 85% mint condition – numerous faint hairlines

The watch has a mineral glass

The watch measures 49mm wide x 17mm deep

The watch is key wound / key set and comes with an old key
