This is a John Bennett movement in an English case. The case has clear hallmarks for London 1894

Movement – the gilt ¾ plate movement has a lever escapement and a compensated balance. The movement is signed “Sir John Bennett Ltd London, No 59396” on the plate. The movement is in 80% mint condition – some marks and scratches on the endstone and watchcock and also some stains on the gilding
Case – the movement comes in an English silver case which has a hinged inner and back and a snap on bezel. The inner cover is engraved with the elaborate logo and “Maker to the Royal Observatory, Sir John Bennett, 53 Cheapside, London”. The case has a vacant cartouche on the back and is in 70% mint condition –wear and tear on the back and the gilt wire is missing on the winder
Dial – the white enamel dial as a full set of gilt hands, is signed “Sir John Bennett Ltd, London” and is in 88% mint condition
The watch measures 49mm wide x 17mm deep
The watch is stem wound / stem set
The watch has a synthetic glass.
