This is seal was designed to be used with hot wax for sealing letters.
I have made an impression of this seal using hot wax to show that the seal works as intended and also to give a clearer image of the intaglio.
The wax impression comes in a small plastic case and is included with the seal.
This is a gilt metal seal made circa 1790 – 1810
The seal has a square base set with an opaque white stone. This is carved with the name Sarah in reverse
The seal has a carved base and a strut handle terminating in a suspension loop.
The strut handle is in the form of a windmill and is very charming
The seal measures 21mm high x 14mm x 11mm on the base.
The seal is in 85% mint condition – some of the gilding has worn away but this is still a lovely seal in honest condition
