Victorian gilt and stone set seal with intaglio c1850
This is seal was designed to be used with hot wax for sealing letters.
I have made an impression of this seal using hot wax to show that the seal works as intended and also to give a clearer image of the intaglio.
The wax impression comes in a small plastic case and is included with the seal.
This is a gilt seal fob. It is a little larger than most and would make an interesting pendant
The gilt seal has a rectangular base set with a good example of a green blood stone. The stone is engraved with the intaglio of a unicorn and cockerel and initials GHL in gothic script
The seal has a carved base and a carved handle topped with a suspension loop
The seal measures 30mm x 20mm x 17mm and is in 95% mint condition – light wear only
