This is seal was designed to be used with hot wax for sealing letters.
I have made an impression of this seal using hot wax to show that the seal works as intended and also to give a clearer image of the intaglio.
The wax impression comes in a small plastic case and is included with the seal.
This is a gilt Victorian seal
The seal has a square base with holding a red stone.
The stone is engraved with initial intaglio of WD although it could be MC – it is hard to tell with these elaborate Gothic initials
The shank is decorated with a carved base and carved strut handle.
The seal is topped with a suspension loop.
The seal measures 23mm x 15mm x 13mm
The seal is in 90% mint condition – light tarnish and wear.
