Georgian charm seal with split ring. Bird delivering letter intaglio c1825

This is seal was designed to be used with hot wax for sealing letters.

I have made an impression of this seal using hot wax to show that the seal works as intended and also to give a clearer image of the intaglio.

The wax impression comes in a small plastic case and is included with the seal.

This is a Georgian gilt metal seal

PLEASE NOTE THIS IS A SMALL SEAL. Ideal as a charm or you could group more pieces on the split ring and make an interesting pendant

This has a square base set with a green glass stone

This stone is carved with an intaglio of a bird delivering a letter in its beak

The seal has an ornately carved base and handle with flowers and swags.

The seal comes with a small gilt split seal which measures 15mm wide x 1.5mm deep

The seal measures 20mm x 10mm x 8.5mm and is in 90% mint condition – both the seal and split ring have lost their gold colour in places but they are still lovely pieces
