This is seal was designed to be used with hot wax for sealing letters.
I have made an impression of this seal using hot wax to show that the seal works as intended and also to give a clearer image of the intaglio.
The wax impression comes in a small plastic case and is included with the seal.
This key is made from yellow gilt metal
The shield shaped base is set with a red hard stone and carved with the intaglio of an oval with initials CHW and what looks like lion but could be a dog – the intaglio is small so hard to make out what the letters and the animal is
It has a carved shank with a suspension loop and leads up to the winding part which is a size 1-2 approx
The key / seal measures 29mm x 10mm x 9mm and is in 95% mint condition
