This is seal was designed to be used with hot wax for sealing letters.
I have made an impression of this seal using hot wax to show that the seal works as intended and also to give a clearer image of the intaglio.
The wax impression comes in a small plastic case and is included with the seal.
This is a SMALL seal fob made circa 1820 and would make a lovely charm or if grouped with some other pieces, it could make a very interesting pendant.
This is a Georgian gilt metal seal.
The seal is set with a foil backed orange glass stone engraved with an anchor and what looks like storm clouds, possibly a coded message for a person being a safe harbour.
The gilt seal has an ornate carved shank and handle decorated topped with a carved suspension ring.
The seal measures 16mm x 9mm x 8mm
The seal is 95% mint condition – light wear only
