Georgian gilt cased seal with SARAH intaglio c1780

This is seal was designed to be used with hot wax for sealing letters.

I have made an impression of this seal using hot wax to show that the seal works as intended and also to give a clearer image of the intaglio.

The wax impression comes in a small plastic case and is included with the seal.

This is a SMALL seal fob made circa 1780 and would make a lovely charm or if grouped with some other pieces, it could make a very interesting pendant.

This is a Georgian gilt metal seal.

The seal is set with a black hard stone engraved with the name SARAH in reverse

The gilt seal has an ornate carved shank and handle decorated topped with a carved suspension ring. It comes with an extra gilt ring

The seal measures 18mm x 11mm

The seal is 90% mint condition – the gilding has worn off this seal over the centuries and is now a bronze colour.
