Georgian gilt seal with a Mirror and “a true friend “intaglio c1780

This is seal was designed to be used with hot wax for sealing letters.

I have made an impression of this seal using hot wax to show that the seal works as intended and also to give a clearer image of the intaglio.

The wax impression comes in a small plastic case and is included with the seal.

This is a seal fob made circa 1780 and would have had a suspension loop or handle. This has broken off

This is a Georgian gold seal made from gilt metal

The seal is set with a black hard stone engraved with the intaglio of a mirror and the words “Un vrai amie” – a True friend

The gilt seal has a metal carved shank and handle decorated with gilt flowers set with white enamel.

The seal measures 13mm x 11mm x 9mm.

The seal is in 80% mint condition – the suspension loop or handle is missing
