This seal has a base carved with an intaglio and was designed to be used with hot wax for sealing letters.
I have made an impression of this seal using hot wax to show that the seal works as intended and also to give a clearer image of the intaglio.
The wax impression comes in a small plastic case and is included with the seal
This gilt metal seal has an oval base set with a green glass stone and engraved with the intaglio of a Roman solider
The seal has an ornately carved base and handle topped with a suspension loop and a large ring.
The seal measures 25mm x 21mm x 16mm and is in 85% mint condition –the gilding has worn making the seal more brassy in colour
