This is seal was designed to be used with hot wax for sealing letters.
I have made an impression of this seal using hot wax to show that the seal works as intended and also to give a clearer image of the intaglio.
The wax impression comes in a small plastic case and is included with the seal.
This is a gilt metal seal set with a pale opaque blue stone carved with a charming intaglio of a thistle and the words, in reverse, “DINNA FORGET”
The stone is held in a claw setting.
The seal has a carved shank topped with a suspension loop
The seal measures 30mm x 17mm x 15mm
The seal is in 90% mint condition – it no longer has a gold coloured sheen and is more of a duller metal colour with some patina
