This is seal was designed to be used with hot wax for sealing letters.
I have made an impression of this seal using hot wax to show that the seal works as intended and also to give a clearer image of the intaglio.
The wax impression comes in a small plastic case and is included with the seal.
This is seal is in one of the largest I have ever had the pleasure in selling.
This seal has is gold on metal – not solid gold
It weighs 22.5 in total
The seal has a lozenge shaped base set with a red agate stone. This is engraved with an intaglio of a Phoenix rising from the flames
The base of the seal has a gold stepped frame with a ribbed domed top and the handle is made up of two coiled strut handles with line detailing terminating in a substantial suspension loop.
The seal measures 36mm x 32mm x 27mm
The seal is in 85% mint condition – small traces of metal coming through the gold in places
