This is seal was designed to be used with hot wax for sealing letters.
I have made an impression of this seal using hot wax to show that the seal works as intended and also to give a clearer image of the intaglios.
The wax impressions comes in a small plastic case and are included with the seal.
I SUSPECT THAT THIS SEAL HAS BEEN MADE RECENTLY. THERE IS SOMETHING JUST “OFF” ABOUT THE WHOLE PIECE. THE TWO STONES ARE DEFINITELY OLD BUT I SUSPECT CAME FROM ANOTHER SEAL. THE METAL JUST LOOKS NEW AND RECENTLY TURNED
This is a gilt metal wheel which has 6 spokes all with different intaglios and two central stones engraved with the intaglios. NOTE ONE SPOKE IS A DUD
The Spokes have the following intaglios
An image of a hand and “Truth” and “Love”
An image of Shakespeare
An image of Napoleon Bonaparte
An image of a cockerel and the words “While I live I crow”
A metal dud
A blue stone with Forget me knot and “Forget me not”
A black stone with a flower
The seal measures 27mm x 15mm
