This seal has a base carved with an intaglio and was designed to be used with hot wax for sealing letters.
I have made an impression of this seal using hot wax to show that the seal works as intended and also to give a clearer image of the intaglio.
The wax impression comes in a small plastic case and is included with the seal
This is a larger seal and would make an interesting pendant
The gilt metal seal has a square base set with a cut glass stone engraved with the initials GB
The double thick bottom square creates an attractive border around the intaglio
The seal has an ornately carved base and handle and is topped with a suspension loop.
The seal measures 42mm x 22mm x 20mm and is in 90% mint condition –traces of gilding on the shank has gone brassy with use
