This is a top English 18K gold pocket watch with clear hallmarks for 18K gold and 1877
The watch was made by one of the top London watchmakers of the time and it was commission and retailed by Aspreys who were the jewellers to the English Royal Family and other Royal households in Europe
Movement – the gilt ¾ plate movement has a lever escapement with an adjusted balance and is signed “Barraud & Lunds, 41 Cornhill, London” 3/2544. The movement is in 95% mint condition
Case – the movement comes in a solid 18K gold full hunter case, which has a hinged back and front cover. The front cover pops open crisply to 90 degrees when you press the winder in. The case has coin edged sides, engine turning and is in 85% mint condition – a little bruise on one side and the engine turning is rubbed in places but still a beautiful watch
Dial – the white enamel has a pair of gold hands and a blue steel sub second hand. The movement is signed “Barraud & Lunds, London, 3/2544”. The dial is in 99% mint condition
The watch has a mineral glass
The watch is stem wound / pin set
The watch measures 50mm wide x 12mm deep
The watch comes in a beautiful red leather bi fold box lined with silk. The box has a strut on reverse so that the box and watch can be displayed upright on a desk. The box is signed “Aspreys”. The box is in perfect condition
