This is an 8 day pocket watch by Hebdomas. Not all watches with 8 day mainsprings and exposed balances are by this firm which are synonymous for these watches.
Movement – the movement has a lever escapement and a very long mainspring which is covered by the mainspring cover. This is signed “8 Jours, Ancre, Qualitie Superieure Garantie, Sprial Breguet, Levees Visibles”.
The inner cover is also decorated with individual medals in miniature for prizes won.
Case – the movement comes in a gold plated full hunter case with a hinged back and front. The front cover pops open fully to 90 degrees when you press the winder in. The case has coin edged sides, engine turning and is in 85% mint condition – although the engraving on both sides is still quite crisp, on each side the case does have traces of metal coming through the gilding
Dial – the white enamel dial has an exposed balance and regulator. The dial is decorated with a superb example of silver enamel numbers on blue cartouche dial with a pale pink enamel hue on the rest of the dial. The dial is signed “Hebdomas Patent, 8 Days, Swiss Made” The dial is decorated with gold and silver enamel flowers and has a pair of blue steel hands. The dial is in 99% mint condition
