This is an American Waltham PS Bartlett pocket watch which has a serial number which dates it to being produced during the American Civil War.

The watch has been cleaned and serviced and works well. However these key wound watches are little difficult when it comes to setting the hands. The watch will come with instructions but still, please note that this is not as straightforward as with later watches

Movement – the gilt full plate movement has an engraved watch cock, a simple steel balance and 11 Jewels. The movement is signed “PS Bartlett, Waltham, Mass, 109095”. The movement is in 85% mint condition – some scratches and marks.

Case – the movement comes in a warranted coin silver case marked 2476. The front cover pops open to 90 degrees when you press the winder in.  The case has a simple crest on the front but quite ornate circular engine turned engraving on the inside of the front cover. The case has chased sides. The rest of the case has a smooth plain finish and is in 90% mint condition – the front cover has two deep scratches. 

Dial – the early one piece, white enamel dial has blue steel hands and is signed “American Watch Co”. The dial is in 99% mint condition

The watch has a synthetic glass

The watch is key wound / key set and comes with a key

The watch measures 54mm wide x 17mm deep – an American 18 size.
